Sedum 'Cape Blanco', Sedum spathulifolium, can't be beat for its layers and layers of foliage that form a thick mat of spiraling rosettes. Chalky white powder covers the leaves and gives this plant a silver appearance that stands out beautifully among dark stone and surrounding foliage. Lovely yellow, stalked flowers appear in summer, and can be cut back after blooming so as not to take away from the beauty of its silver leaves. Native to North America, Sedum 'Cape Blanco' is hardy and is a great addition to a naturalized landscape where it will attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
